I think the highest recommendation of all is that many clients ask him to keep their keys after their renovation is finished so he can come back for future needs, including emergency repairs when they are away.
His rates are competitive and he is very respectful of your budget, which in my experience is not always the case. Also, his crew are full time employees with benefits (beware of a trap I fell into years ago - "contractors" who use day laborers!)
He is currently doing a significant renovation for me and I couldn't be happier. His painters are fantastic - far better than even the priciest painter in DC. I hope I'll never have to look for a painter again! FYI, I interviewed a few other design/build firms and several architects. I heard some horror stories that made me realize you have to be careful with design/build - without an architect to help oversee quality control, review billing etc you can run into real trouble. That will not be an issue with Bruce.
