I am a retired BMW factory mechanic and auto shop teacher at the San Rafael HS ROP program. I went back to school and got my Electrical Engineering degree, doing that until now with my semi retired little computer consulting biz. I recently met one of the owners of Apexmotorwerks, Dave Ball. His shop is a new client of mine. Conveniently for me, I just purchased a used 2007 Mercedes SLK which after owning for five months, had an issue than I did not really want to deal with, its slick 7 speed auto transmission! Dave diagnosed the real problem quickly despite thousands of entries in the Mercedes onboard diagnostic system of my car. He even had the obscure part right there in stock for my car and pointed out what can slowly go wrong with it. They are obviously intimate with these vehicles as only ex Mercedes factory experts concentrating on one brand can be. After working with Dave and his partners for a few weeks on their computer systems, I had a chance to observe the shops operations and saw happy customers and the excellent camaraderie of skilled Automotive technicians who enjoy their work. BTW my repair wasn’t cheap, ($1380) Dave had the experience to let me know that my issue might not come back so let it ride and lets see how she does! Thats how shops work that aren’t hungry for your money! Its months later and the issue has not returned! Thanks Dave!
