This business replaced an existing deck made of a Timbertech wood composite product that utterly failed after two years--splitting, warping, sagging. End product was beautiful. Use of aluminum was terrific suggestion.

From the moment I shook Kelly Fandel's hand I knew I'd found the right person to tackle our deck project. We were looking to replace both a front and back deck on our home and we are so happy we chose to work with Kelly and his crew. We procured bids from other contractors who tried to steer us towards a composite product but we were interested in using a renewable hardwood, such as Tigerwood, which is Kelly's specialty. We couldn't be happier with the finished product. The decks are simply stunning. The quality of the craftsmanship is unsurpassed and even though Kelly encountered some unexpected obstacles along the way, he handled each one in stride. He always arrived on schedule and reviewed the progress with us at the end of each day. Kelly and his crew were respectful of the fact that we work from home and were always available to answer any questions we had along the way. Kelly did all he could to control costs while maintaining some of the highest quality standards we've encountered in many years. We would definitely hire Kelly again and look forward to maintaining the relationship we established for years to come.

We learned of Stylish Outdoor Living, at the Tacoma Home Show and made our selection after receiving proposals from 5 other builders. We based our decision on price, promised quality, the speed with which owner Kelly Fandel grasped what we thought we wanted, and the suggestions/options he provided that makes our deck special. When we started we were certain we wanted a composite or vinyl deck but with Kelly's guidance we decided to use the tropical hard wood called Tiger Wood. It should be as durable as any synthetic and has a natural beauty synthetic materials can't match; although it does require at least yearly cleaning and staining to retain its color. Tiger Wood is apparently plentiful and actually helps reduce deforestation by making the forest land too valuable for less environmentally sound development. Kelly arrived each day exactly when he said he would. Once he started he was all business and the deck went up fast. The work area was clean at the end of each work day. I don't know how the workmanship could be better. He was insistent on using Arrow Hardware for all the materials and I now know why; the quality of materials is far better than anything I have seen at the big box hardware stores; I didn't know that the quality of lumber they provided was still available. We couldn't be happier with our new deck and based on our experience, highly recommend Stylish Outdoor Living.
