Deliver was not done on arranged date and never ?received call to let us know. Had to call and reschedule, no explanation.

We purchased a refrigerator from Sears and, while we like the product, delivery and installation was a nightmare. Prior to purchasing the new refrigerator and scheduling its delivery with the removal of the old refrigerator, we made sure to discuss the fact that there were two flights of stairs to be navigated. The delivery date was three weeks out - not ideal as the old refrigerator no longer worked - however, we'd make do. We took the scheduled day off of work and waited. And waited. Eventually the refrigerator arrived and the delivery person came into our condo, looked at the location, said he needed two people to deliver it, and he went back up the stairs to the truck. We had noticed that there was a second person in the truck, so we waited. Again. Finally we went back outside and found the truck - and our new refrigerator - gone. After navigating a LONG process to talk to the right people, we rescheduled the delivery for another day - another week and a half away - with a guaranteed delivery window (we'd had that before and they were more than two hours outside that window, so we were not hopeful) We took the new date off. Two days before the scheduled delivery, we received a reminder call for delivery to occur THE NEXT day! We scrambled to find someone to be there for the delivery. Then, when the refrigerator arrived, the two people came in and said it would not fit, so they could not deliver it. We had measured everything (entrance door, kitchen door, space for the refrigerator - height, width and depth) and had checked that against the stated measurements of the new refrigerator prior to making the purchase. We knew it would be tight, however, it should have worked. After removing the refrigerator from the box, they determined that the measurements were actually about .25 to .5" off. We asked about removing the refrigerator doors to put it in place, and were told yes, that would work, however, they could not do it. It would take a different person to deliver it. And if we removed them, it would void the warranty. So they left, again, taking the refrigerator with them. After YET AGAIN navigating a LONG process to talk to the right people (and I admit, I was very unhappy about the situation!), we rescheduled the delivery for the THIRD TIME, another week away, having to take yet another day off, with another guaranteed delivery window. This time, delivery went smoothly, the refrigerator doors were removed, the refrigerator was put into place, the doors reattached, and the refrigerator was tested to make sure everything was working properly. These delivery people were knowledgeable, helpful and kind. They also arrived on the correct day and within the stated time window. Although, eventually everything turned out alright, it was a miserable experience. I lost several workdays. The Sears salesperson was NO help. It was very difficult to get to and talk to the right person to help with the situation. I spent many frustrating hours on the phone. I also found out that the first delivery people just didn't want to navigate an outside stairway in the rain, so they found an excuse and left. Given the difficulties, I will not be shopping at Sears for appliances again.
