Nemecio Benitez tends to bid very low. He doesn't fish for change orders; he's just a very low-overhead contractor. We found him to be an excellent choice as he's very honest and cooperative to work with. We wanted some specific upgrades; stainless steel nails, metal joint flashing under the Hardi Plank, a particular brand and grade of exterior paint, etc. I also wanted some cedar boards patched in, which needs to be done very carefully to maintain the house wrap’s integrity. We had him rebid after we explained our expectations and he increased the quote modestly. The guys tended to overdrive nails a bit at first, and they initially didn’t stagger the joints in a random pattern, however they were always friendly and patient and made any requested adjustments. They did a great job of managing the house wrap and properly flashing the windows and doors in accordance with best practices. I fabricated mounting blocks for porch lights and hose bibbs, and did some other work such as helping with the daily cleanup just to lighten the crew’s load a bit. We got an excellent siding installation and paint job; I’d work with them again in a minute.
