I went in for a diagnostic study on an intermittent problem that my regular mechanic could not diagnose. He said that Honda Dealers had real-time access to Honda factory engineers who might be able to solve the problem. They did not contact the factory, but they did road test the vehicle and perform an inspection. They couldn't get the problem to manifest. They did, however, come up with a suggestion for $800 worth of additional work, most of which, according to my regular mechanic, was unnecessary. After my visit, Honda followed up with emails from two different employees, and sent me a go-pro video of their entire once-over of my vehicle. I considered this a full-court press to make the dealership extra money. The inspection and road test cost me $70 which I did think was fair.
