Once admitted, left in a room with no idea what was happening or whether just forgotten, for well over an hour. No communication.

For some time, my spouse has been so ill that several trips to the ER have been needed. The one last October (his last, as he entered hospice and then died a few months later) was for sepsis, which proceeded to septic shock. It is very stressful to have to deal with a busy ER having only two parking spaces (you have to park SOMEWHERE when bringing someone to the ER, and no, parking on the street doesn't work). With covid, there is no waiting inside, but I was surprised that there was no alternative arrangement for the spouse of a potentially terminal patient. One staff member made a special effort to keep me informed, but overall the experience was not good. (Particularly jarring was seeing a staff member conduct a translated interview right in the waiting room - completely contrary to HIPAA confidentiality rules.) In the future, I will go to any other ER but Swedish First Hill.

In these times of COVID, I was very impressed with the staff and their care.
