In the last month or so, FM's prices have been going up. This week I saw Folger's Classic Roast 2 lbs. 22.99 at FM and 18.99 at Safeway. Kroger house toilet paper has gone up from 3.99 to 4.29. I think Kroger's closing valuable to-the-neighborhood FM stores to be another cost cutter for it. Too bad you didn't include Town & Country. Their prices are high but their food is excellent.

Fred Meyer seems to have issues keeping many items stocked in the stores, every visit there is at least 1 to 10 items on my list that will be out of stock. They will put something on sale but then don't have it in stock, even after 3 visits in 1 week. The last day of sales is the worst for out of stock items, but then the very next morning they will have full stock of those now that they are off sale. They also discontinue commonly purchased items regularly. If they claim that not enough of those items are bought, then maybe if they kept regular stock then people could buy them - most times they are one of the items always out of stock so you can't buy them even though you want to! Prices can be in error a LOT. I check every receipt and actually try to verify prices as I check out if using self-check. About 50% of the visits will have at least 1 or more price errors. Shelf tags many times are out of date showing a sale price that has expired. I personally reported one such issue to the store manager and it was left unchanged for another 6 weeks before they finally changed the shelf tag! Staffing lately has caused many issues. I was at a Fred Meyer last night (9:07pm at checkout) and waited 30 minutes in the checkout line (only 1 was open) because no one was actually working the register for 20 minutes!!! Skipped the self-check because there were so many people already in line there, big mistake. But, there are only so many similar stores in the area, so you have to shop somewhere. But pick your time of day carefully and assume not all items you want will be there.

The ratings definitely vary from store to store. I shop the Fred Meyer closest to me (Alderwood) but the Everett store has much better frozen food selection and the Fred Meyer in Lynnwood also has better yard and garden plants and other food items that I prefer. The ratings above reflect the Alderwood store. Wish it had better selection and better stocked shelves. Always missing many things on my grocery list.
