Two unsatisfactory experiences. My insurer, The Hartford, delegated rock-chip repairs to Safelite. Three repair visits were aborted, including one in which I needlessly drove more than an hour only to be sent home without a repair because the installer lacked the parts to do the repair -- even after his predecessor had aborted an earlier replacement visit for lack of the same parts. It took many weeks to finally get the windshield replaced. The Hartford also referred Safelite as a prospective vendor to replace the windshield on another car. In this case, the deductible was $1,000, so I was paying out of pocket. I shopped. A competitor did the replacement quickly and for half of the amount Safelite bid.
