DR Horton does not build the quality homes that they did in the past (note that all positive review are from many years ago). They build a home that on the surface and at first glance looks nice. Only after time has passed do their shortcuts and cheap materials start to stand out. Almost all of our floors (upstairs and downstairs) now creak and groan like a 50-year old home. The carpets are matted and look a decade old (in actuality, they are less than 5 years old, the same age as our house), in spite of regular cleaning and our home being a "no-shoes in the house" home. Cabinet hinges have snapped (nearly impossible to find replacements since they installed cheap off-brand cabinets). Some interior doors will not latch due to misalignment. The patio door locking mechanism broke, and, again, being a cheap off-brand, a replacement cannot be found. DR Horton is churning out homes that look great on the surface, but they are constructed from the cheapest materials and thrown together with haphazard workmanship. Maximum profits, are their guiding principle, not homes that will stand the test of time. The money you save upfront (compared to competitors) will be flowing from you wallet down the road. Buyer beware.
