It took multiple times to reach the owner. That was the first clue. We agreed on a price based on my specs. I ended up reducing the size, but the price was not. He told me when they would show up (vs. asking if that was okay). We reviewed the job, he told me that I could save by paying in cash (another clue, no written paperwork), then the owner left with the workman, who spoke virtually no English, behind. The work did not get completed in the time promised due to the smaller scope requiring another threshold. He said that they'd return the next morning, which they did. I was not asked if I had such a piece, but instead was quoted a price that was double retail, being told that was the market price. I looked it up online to find out that was false. In the meantime, I had to scramble to come up with an unexpected, extra $80 in cash for that. He argued online that all of this was agreed to, not true IMO, the fact that he felt he had to argue being evident of someone who believes they are "always right." Afterward, I noticed that his workman had broken a folding door, which I had to order a part for and then fix myself, and they left the trim at odd angles and with cuts in the wall above it in places, i.e., they were sloppy. I did not like the owner's attitude, the work that was good but not carefully done given the post-repair that I had/have to do. Therefore, I cannot recommend this flooring installer, who I only went with due to my first choice being busy. Sometimes, it's best to wait, but it's always advisable to read the clues, which I did not despite having multiple opportunities!
