TLG complaint to checkbook.org Master bath renovation including a switch to a walk in shower. Design etc was good, work done in a timely fashion. However, two years later we began getting water leaks in the adjacent room, progressing to leakage down to the floor below in the ceiling and wall. Owner came and declared that I had been too vigorous in cleaning and that recaulking was necessary, which we were charged for. Fast forward to more leaks; paid for plumber to assess (with drywall cutting), etc. Plumbing was fine. Subsequently the ceiling downstairs became so bad that we were afraid to use the shower. Ultimately we had another tile company demo and redo the tile. He discovered an unbelievable number of installation errors, including not using the proper type of cement to glue down tthe tiles (they used the type for dry surfaces), putting nails through the rubber liner in multiple places near the bottom of the wall, and using improper construction of the curb where the door rests, among other things. I don't know the technical names of these things, but it was a regular occurrence that one of us was called up to inspect the latest discovery. To add insult to injury, the outer wall insulation was teeming with mold. Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that shower diverter was installed with a drywall screw, which destroyed and rusted inner workings of the diverter. So, ultimately we had hire a plumber twice, a drywall hanger and a painter, a new tile installer, a new glass door installer (because the old one no longer fit with the new tiles), as well as a new set of tiles. The cost of all this was $7,144.00. Incompetence and cutting corners, as well as the company’s unwillingness to take responsibility is the reason we do NOT recommend TLG tile.
