PROJECT: 2024 LAWN MAINTENANCE INCLUDING WEED CONTROL, LAWN FERTILIZER, GRUB CONTROL PRICE: $598.13. NOT INCLUDED; LAWN AERATION, TREE/SHRUB CARE, OR MOSQUITO CONTROL. I signed up for one year's service on April 23, 2024, saying I had a really bad problem with broadleaf weeds. I was pleased when an employee came April 26th. However, he was using a spreader, I assume fertilizing. Security cameras observed he treated only part of the yard. Anyone looking at my yard would have known, for example, both sides of the driveway have grass, and need treating. NO ONE came in the month of May. Meanwhile, weeds were thriving during this rainy spring. I was not happy being stuck with the job of hand-picking dandelion blossoms every day in an effort to keep them from going to seed. I was also doing a lot of hand digging of weeds. I was ready to call TRUGREEN to ask for my money back when I received a text that they were coming the next day, June 10th. I called TRUGREEN to ask what service was planned? Another fertilizer treatment? I reminded them that in April, I said I had a bad broadleaf weed problem. I was assured the person coming would treat weeds. When he arrived, I came out to greet him and to show him the property lines. The employee was very pleasant and did a good job pumping an odorless chemical on the entire front yard. I left him to do the fenced back yard without staying to observe. He erected "TRUGREEN keep off the lawn" signs in both the front and back yards. I was given a refund of one month's service for the missed month of May. As an effort of goodwill, TRUGREEN is scheduled to come twice in June 2024, hopefully for a second application of WEED control since, although some weeds are dying, others are not. I plan to be home to monitor. MY HISTORY WITH TRUGREEN: I'd used TRUGREEN for a quite a few years, continuing the services of SCOTTS, whom they'd bought out. I finally fired TRUGREEN about four years ago because (per security videos) the employee was walking one trip around the yard treating the grass next to the house (where there were no weeds), then leaving. Meanwhile I'd taken photos of many crabgrass plants three feet across, with a yardstick in the photo, as proof of ineffective service. Crabgrass was everywhere, but especially along perimeter areas such as along the driveway and pipestems. SCOTTS ALWAYS MADE A SPECIAL EFFORT TO TREAT THESE PERIMETER AREAS which were so vulnerable. I miss SCOTTS and will be carefully monitoring performance of TRUGREEN this summer. However, they do seem much more responsive than the TRUGREEN I knew in the past.
