PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Double doors for walkout basement. Started with a meeting at the millwork shop Feb 25, 2022. Due to a key person being sick (NFI) NOTHING WAS DONE. On July 22, 2022 I learned my project was finally assigned to someone else who would finish the estimate. That lingered on until Nov 28, 2022, when I signed the contract for installation. Installer came Dec 17, 2022. He said the double doors that were delivered to my house won't fit. They were TOO TALL. Installer can't change basement foundation, nor can he change the lentil above the doors. Also the delivered doors had four (4) holes for knobs, was supposed to have two (2) holes. INSTALLER HAD PREVIOUSLY COME AND MEASURED HIMSELF. HOW COULD TART LUMBER ORDER THE WRONG SIZE DOORS? Double doors were re-ordered. The second set were too wide! Installer said he could "work with it" by widening my door frame, which then required moving a light switch inside my home, leaving two holes where the socket was located. The double doors were finally installed March 8, 2023. I insisted that Tart Lumber return to replace some dented moulding they’d installed, and also patch the two screw holes in my otherwise perfect wall. The installer ordered WIDE, WHITE shoe moulding which looked absolutely awful against my pergo wood floor. Installer said WHITE is "all they carry." I guess Tart's MILLWORK SHOP couldn't possibly extend themselves by making one brown piece for me??? So I spent many hours and many miles driving around northern Virginia -- to Leesburg, Manassas, etc attempting to find a strip of shoe moulding that was actually made of WOOD. A different Tart Lumber crew with more initiative finished installing that. I was reimbursed for the strip of wood but not for time nor miles. Why was I doing the installer's job, anyway???? Then there's the issue of ME STUCK PAINTING AN ENTIRE WALL because someone at Tart Lumber twice ordered doors that were the wrong size, and now I have two patched holes in my wall! I would never, ever, hire Tart Lumber to do anything in my house again. The only reason I stuck with them is because there are some “Tarts” on my mother's side of the family. LOWES also gave me a competitive quote for the same door in 2022. Also got a quote from Home Depot, which was much more costly. I deeply regret not purchasing and installing the double doors through LOWES.
