My old Carrier/Bryant HVAC system was 25 years old and originally installed by Donmar. I had an evaporator leak in the inside furnace housing which told me it was time to replace the system. After reviewing a number Checkbook companies’ reviews for western Fairfax, I request estimates from two companies (I had estimates from several other companies two years ago also for comparison purposes, and yes, prices have gone up. Donmar’s price was the most competitive with the brand I wanted to stay with. The company’s representative provided me with three options. I clarified some concerns and decided to go with Donmar again. I am happy I did. My installation team’s workmanship was excellent, they answered my questions, showed my how the system was set up, and cleaned up very well. The lead tech was Edgar. Both techs were knowledgeable and worked well as a team. The new HVAC system installation went well beyond just replacing the heating and air conditioning units and included replacing a solenoid unit on the humidifier (I had the replacement part on hand), added new/improved duck work next to the system, a GCFI outlet, gas burner safety switch and exhaust/drainage piping, and new fuse box for the outside unit. When comparing companies and estimates, suggest factoring in the warrantees of both the HVAC manufacture and the installation company. Some companies such as Donmar include a two-year contract that covers winter/summer system checks. Inquire about discounts such as military and/or rebates such as from the gas company for installing a more efficient furnace. I would give my Donmar company, installation team, and salesman a check mark for both quality and price.

We’ve used Donmar for about 15 years. They recently replaced our 13 year old heat pump with a very efficient, extremely quiet Carrier unit. I competitively priced the job and Donmar came in between $2,000 - $4,000 less than anyone else!

Based on information in Consumer's Checkbook and from friends, I sought bids from four companies on a Carrier heat pump. Donmar Heating and Cooling offered the lowest price but did not include the longer labor warranty of another company. When the owner agreed to match the services of next closest competitor the deal was closed. Instillation began on time and Bryan and Carlos took obvious pride in their work. They were both friendly and happy to answer my questions. This heat pump runs much quieter than the unit it replaced and I am very pleased with both the equipment and the company.
