Another deck builder insisted that we have our deck torn down and completely replaced, saying that it was built of inferior wood the year after the original chemical for pressure-treating wood was banned. They never even checked the condition of the substructure. AVEC checked the substructure, though, and said it was sound, thus saving us thousands of dollars. And they did an excellent job - workers were very pleasant and polite and worked hard - no wasting time.

AVEC replaced our deteriorating wood deck with Trex decking. This was not new deck construction. The pricing was competitive, the work was done promptly (a big plus these days), and the end results more than met our expectations.
