Our new flagstone patio is beautiful! Excellent work from Garrett and the team. They arrived on time, were polite, and professional. Everything went smoothly and additional requests were accommodated for. Working with Capital Masonry was one of the best experiences I’ve had with contractors. I highly recommend this company if you’re looking for a quality installation or repair.

Hire this group if you want to pay $4,450, do 1/3 of the work yourselves; and get nothing but a stream of excuses. We hired this group because they were highly rated in Consumer Checkbook. We have used Consumer Checkbook for many years, have checked the ratings carefully, and have never had issues with the quality of the services. This was an exception. There were many issues with their work. First, they did not clearly explain the process. Three workmen arrived. They worked from 9 until 11:30 and then disappeared until 2:30. When they left, they did not inform us where they were going. For the three hours they were gone, their tools were strewn all over our yard, along with hosing; excess mortar was left on the walkway. (A few days after they finished the work, we found one of their key tools in our flowerbed about ten feet from the walk.) Additionally, because they had not cordoned off the walkway, delivery personnel had walked on the surface and the mortar was covered with footprints. At about 2:30 I called the office to ask where they were. No one answered the phone at the office, so I left a voice mail. Apparently, whoever listened to the message called the supervisor who told the workmen to return to work. (They had allegedly been sitting in their truck). They returned immediately and worked for about an hour or so to hose down and even out the mortar and left. Our impression was that no-one came to supervise their work at any time. The mortar laid was so un-even when they left that my husband and I consulted with another contractor the next day (Saturday) who told us that within 48 hours from when it was laid (Friday), the mortar would harden to the point it would be difficult to smooth out; they were not to return until Monday (72 from when the mortar was laid). So, we spent three hours sanding the mortar down. When we called the office manager at Capital Masonry, we were told that there was no issue, it was customary to wait 48 hours before smoothing out the mortar; we pointed out it had been 72 hours. The supervisor who had spent about five minutes at our home the first day (he asked where the water hose was and then disappeared) returned on Monday and washed the walk down, again telling us we really had not needed to smooth the mortar because he would have done it when he returned after 72 hours. Maybe so, but at that point it would have required substantially more work on their part. The work was poorly done and all we got from the company was one excuse after another.
