1. DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING. The salesman assured me that I'd receive copies of everything I signed after I agreed to buy. I did NOT get copies of everything. In particular, I'm incensed that they did not give me a copy of the one page document in which I initialed a long list of employment categories (teacher; EMS; fireman, police officer; active military, etc.) THIS IS IMPORTANT because their "advertised price" only applles if the buyer is ALL CATEGORIES OF EMPLOYMENT on this one page document. How clever of the dealer to conceal this information, and then to keep the written proof with my initials. Bayside’s ADVERTISED price on that date (source: website) was $37,995. The PRICE I PAID was $46,488.49. (This is BEFORE adding on taxes, fees, and an extended warranty which I later cancelled). CARMAX VALUATION of this same exact VIN # on date of sale was $34,580. 2.ODOMETER FRAUD. By coincidence odometer reading on the sales documents was 7,480, which is 20 miles UNDER the miles when a vehicle MUST be categorized as "used." My salesman claimed it was a "loaner." After buying, I drove the vehicle home (97.2 miles) then returned to the dealer the middle of the following week to collect my vanity plate. When I drove through Fredericksburg on my way to the dealer (62.4 miles), the odometer turned over 8,000 miles. During the day I bought it and returning to King George, I drove to the post office twice, the county treasurer and the DMV once. Total "errand" miles 40.6. That means the odometer actually had a minimum of 7,800 miles on it when I bought it, and probably a lot more. The frosting on the cake was my certificate of registration which allegedly documents odometer reading on date of purchase reads 28 miles. 3. FAILURE TO SERVICE VEHICLE. Before buying the vehicle, I stopped by their service department to check if any service work had been done (I.e., recall repairs, oil changes). Despite being an alleged "loaner" vehicle, NOTHING had been done since post-delivery prep for sale. I insisted that Bayside Ford reimburse me for an 8,000 mile service at a qualified shop near my home. Bayside's manager agreed. I had this work done immediately, but have not yet submitted my invoice to him because there are many other items on the bill of sale (incorrect registration fee, incorrect sales & use tax, charging for an inspection fee that was never done -- the old sticker was in the windshield!); I want to include these with my 8,000 mile service request for reimbursement. The company collected a hefty $995 processing fee from me, that should be enough.
