I purchased prescription sunglasses. They have never fit properly, but because my 30-day warranty has expired, the store won't replace them, even though I first complained about the problem before the warranty had expired.

This update applies ONLY to the “independent” optometrist co-located with For Eyes at the same address. Dr. Motamedi botched my eyeglass prescription by a wide margin. I won’t replicate the entire Rx; suffice it to say that he wrote down the “sphere” (first number in the glasses prescription) as +1.75 in both eyes. One year earlier, in June 2023, he measured it as +0.50 in the left eye and PL (plano, no correction necessary) in the right. When I went back to speak with Dr. Motamedi, he was not in the office. However, I was fortunate to meet his new partner, Dr. Kohen, on her first day of work. She re-tested my vision for free and gave me the correct Rx. Her prescription differed only slightly from the one Dr. Motamedi wrote the year before, in June 2023. Dr. Kohen was at a loss to explain the large discrepancy between my correct prescription and the one Dr. Metamodi gave me one month earlier Whatever the reason, his error cost me more than $200 and added at least a month to the time I was without a fully-functional pair of glasses. I still recommend For Eyes on W. Broad St. in Falls Church for purchasing prescription eye wear, but I do NOT recommend seeing Dr. Motamedi, one of their now-two co-located optometrists. I do recommend the newer optometrist, Dr. Kohen. She impressed me with her professionalism and friendly demeanor and, most importantly, she wrote a correct prescription.

In past years, I went to the For Eyes DC office (G St), by Metro - but during the COVID pandemic, I opted to try a location with nearby free parking, so I could drive there and avoid public transportation. Perhaps it was new staff, but I didn't find the staff at this location as experienced in helping select frames (they all pretty much look the same when you can't see too well and need new glasses!), or adjust them properly after the glasses came in. And the prices - even with a coupon - seemed to have skyrocketed over past years. The optometrist who was next door to them reportedly left during the pandemic - with patients' medical records! After years of getting my glasses and frames from For Eyes, I plan to shop around next time.
