We've had a few hiccups with the regular heat and AC checks (not installing UV light correctly, for instance), and recently they tried to tell us we needed to get a new furnace immediately. We got a second opinion and was told we have at least a few years left. And they also were very flippant when I asked about a heat pump vs. traditional furnace. They're just fine for regular checkups, but for bigger problems, I'd look elsewhere.

I have had Vernon perform the discounted bi-annual service for several years. The service check is apparently designed to promote installation of expensive new systems. I initially went along with the advice but a friend advised me that the loss of freon could be remedied by replacing inexpensive values and recharging the freon. That fixed the problem and saved thousands of dollars. I am relatively confident that the inspection was performed competently. The root cause of the problem appears to be that the techs doing the inspections get paid sales commissions, so they do not provide accurate information about the comparative costs of a repair versus replacement.

They did a routine HVAC inspection, and then provided same day service and repair when our air conditioning system failed during 95 degree temperatures in the summer. We were very pleased with their service and staff.
