Arlington County gyms are a great bargain, especially their 55+ memberships. And there may be one within walking distance of your neighborhood. I used to use TJ, but now go to Arlington Mill, because I can walk there from my home, or workout after my morning run without getting in the car and driving to the gym. I have taken classes at TJ, and like the group body pump classes, which are very popular. Cycling is fine as well, though the 45-minute length may not be long enough for some. TJ has a great variety of equipment; Arlington Mill is much smaller and more limited, but has the basics and is rarely crowded.

Great place to go when you can't exercise outdoors because of bad weather. Plenty of cardio machines and weights, and an 1/8 mile track to walk around. Also lots of pick up Pickle Ball, basketball and volleyball games. Staff is very friendly and they keep disinfectant spray handy so germs aren't spread. Can't beat the price.
