Good vet but their prices are very high.

Annandale Animal Hospital used to be owned by a group of local vets who practiced there and they were my go-to vets for maybe 20 years.  Over time, the vets grew older and sought to retire, and they sold their practice to VCA (Veterinary Care Animal Hospitals).  VCA is a large, national corporation that specializes in buying out local vet clinics and hospitals, gutting the practice by replacing the existing vets and staff, and then focusing on one thing:  Maximizing profits.  While the newer, younger vets here are nice and capable, they lack the experience that the vets at Annandale Animal Hospital used to have.  Also, they have no qualms about charging EXORBITANT prices for the same services you can get elsewhere at lower costs.  Because my cats are sometimes boarded at a boarding kennel with a cattery while I'm on vacation, it was recommended that I have them tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, the virus that causes feline AIDS.  The cost was $600 PER CAT, thus a simple blood test for each cat cost me $1200, and that was in addition to the cost for their regular vaccines for rabies, etc.  There's a reason that VCA Annandale Animal Hospital has a Checkbook rating of being 146% higher in price than the average, and yet has a rating of only 53% when it comes to actual quality of service (as of 10 November, 2022).  They are motivated by only one thing:  PROFIT.  Once you are signed-up as a patient, the VCA corporate machine will send you COUNTLESS e-mails and text messages, with all kinds of "guilt trip" reasons that you need to bring your pet in to be seen.  They also relentlessly beg for you to give them good feedback on social media, and to follow them on Facebook and other such crap. The latest scam that VCA is pushing is their "Care Club," which requires a monthly fee, but isn't (by their own disclosure) pet health insurance.  It's just a way to charge you a monthly fee to get free routine exams (where they can charge you for tests, treatments, and meds that aren't covered under the Care Club), a "personalized care plan" (that involves bringing in your pets even more often so they can charge for even more services), "Live Chat with a Licensed Veterinary Professional" where you can chat on your phone with some rando vet tech who's going to (surprise) tell you to immediately bring your pet in to be seen (so they can charge you more money), and a whopping "UP TO 25% OFF" stuff you likely don't need and it's only "UP TO" 25%, so since you're paying over 43% more for services (per Checkbook's pricing comparison), they're not even going to be competitive on their prices if you sign up for this Care Club nonsense, and don't forget that you're paying a monthly fee whether you use any of these services, or not.  And, of course, they have an APP!  Because everything in this world needs to have an app, VCA's money-making machine wants you to install an app on your phone so you can book appointments, etc.  And, of course, their app includes tracking software.  Simply INSTALLING their "myVCA" app triggered 64 tracking attempts, as reported by the DuckDuckGo App Tracking Protection software.  That doesn't even begin to count the tracking that they'll do if you create an account - their app is so bad when it comes to third-party tracking that we uninstalled it without ever getting that far. Bottom line:  Just don't patronize VCA Annandale Animal Hospital or ANY of the VCA-owned vet practices.  They're just a money-grab that exploits us through the love we have for our pets.  If they really cared, they'd charge reasonable prices and provide legitimate care instead of whatever is most costly.
