I found this company through HomeAdvisor, not sure why I strayed from Consumers' Checkbook this time. I submitted an online request for a quote for a small handyman job, and Fred Ferson called me to inquire. I explained I wanted a shrub removed and a small shed assembled in its place. He asked me to text photos and I did so immediately. He texted me two days later asking me to call. I did and he was angry - said he's a contractor and not interested in digging a hole in the ground and putting up my "tent." (The shed is portable and canvas, from ShelterLogic, all of which I'd told him the first time we spoke.) I was taken aback and started to laugh and that made him angrier. I don't know why he didn't just text back "no thank you," or just not respond at all - asking me to call him so that he could be rude was unsettling. There are plenty of other handymen and contractors in NoVA-I recommend NOT calling this guy, especially if you're a woman.
