Dr. Harandi is very personable and friendly. But some of his ideas are not standard practice as defined by official periodontal publications. For example, he says that pockets of 1-4 mm are fine but had advised surgery for 5mm pockets in the absence of periodontal disease symptoms on the basis that root planing had failed to improve their depth and that I could not adequately care for them. This was after a multi-year COVID gap in dental care. He also had told me that irrigators like WaterPik were useless whereas all the other dentists and hygienists I've seen said they are a valuable adjunct to regular flossing.
