A & B General Contracting Services, LLC installed a porch railing on a 4x16 foot concrete porch for us on 10/8/2024. The price was the lowest, which was not the primary concern. They were all very close, $1650 to $2000. That he could complete the job first was more important, since we wanted to have a coating installed on the floor of the porch and we wanted to get started on that as soon as possible. Ben and Chris were very easy to work with and very pleasant. We showed the contractor a picture of the railing we wanted, so we assumed that is what he planned to install, but half-way through the project, I realized that he was installing the wrong product. I should have noticed it sooner, but it was too late to start over and the railing looked good, just not what we wanted, so we went with it. The outcome was outstanding. The installer, Chris, was fantastic and made sure everything was perfect. I can’t recall any installer being more diligent in making sure all measurements were perfect and that the installation was rock solid. We are pleased with the installation, and it looks very good, but we are disappointed that it is not the style of railing we wanted. Live and learn. At least it turned out well and it does match the style of the deck raining in the back of the house. The other two installers couldn’t give us a definite date because they had to order the railing, which should have been a red flag. The young man who gave us the estimate, though, said his family had been in the business for many years, so I assumed he had connections the others did not since he had a picture of the railing we wanted. Bad assumption. Ben said he had formed his own company recently separated from his family, so he was new to the business. He was very apologetic, and I doubt he will make that kind of mistake again. But it wouldn't hurt to make sure you are getting what you want.
