I love IKEA cabinets because with a little imagination and a good circular saw I've been able to customize them to create decent quality, beautiful kitchens in the most awkward of spaces. I thought a re-do of the simple layout of old IKEA kitchen cabinets in my new house was going to be easy and inexpensive. Unfortunately, IKEA changed it's line of cabinets a couple of years ago. Nothing in the new line is interchangeable with the old. So I was unable to reuse any of the old overhead cabinets and had to buy all new. The hanging system of the new cabinets is also incompatible with the old. But I would have had to replace the hanging system anyway because the cabinet dimensions had changed significantly in height and depth, necessitating a change in the overall design. A year later, I notice that a couple of the doors have developed a slight warp. I still recommend the IKEA cabinet bodies, they are solid and flexible. I can't recommend the IKEA doors but there are a number of online providers of better quality custom doors that fit IKEA cabinets.
