Poor Bob MacLaughlin had his work cut out for him when it came to this job. I had used DVA in the past, for my house, and they were great.
Sadly, for me, I purchased a Condominium in Devon, last year. I was aware that I had to buy a new window - as the seal was broken. What was NOT conveyed to me - by the Owners, Real Estate Agent, and other entities was the fact I had to purchase ALL new windows - at the back of the Condo. This amounted to 4 windows - all different sizes.
I tried to reason with the "Management Company and the Board," but to no avail; they were adamant. I finally agreed to replace the 4 windows; what choice did I have? I asked for the name of the company they used for this kind of work. What a LAUGH!!!
It seems the previous company they had used for windows and doors had filed for bankruptcy. I had heard of the company, and knew their reputation, and was not surprised. The windows, and sliding glass doors they had installed in many of the units were leaking, and had issues. I was astounded, AND speechless when the Association, and Management Co. told me they didn't have a company - that did this kind of work. Then again, perhaps they just hadn't been looking for one.
I was beyond frustrated, and went to DVA personally. Bob was just leaving, but agreed to come right then, and gave me an estimate. Still not good enough for "The Powers that be." I gave them a copy of Checkbook - to show them ratings, and satisfaction with DVA. Bob never told me how much time he spent EVEN trying to arrange a meeting with these people, such a professional!
However, the Association, and Management Company wanted ALL windows - to look exactly like the ones that were original - to the Condominiums - or had been replaced by the previous "bankrupt company." I saw his truck a few times hauling "samples," to show "them."
It took months - until Bob contacted me, and said he had my windows. I can only guess at what he went through to try and satisfy these ladies.
Bottom line - they were installed in January, and it was freezing outside. "Tom," was the poor soul who did the work. He was just great, in every way.
However, I still have to replace the front 3 windows, but just don't have the $$$ to do so just yet. My only consolation is that when I do, it will be done properly, and by a reputable company.
