John and his crew did a really good job on my concrete except for one problem. When the crew originally framed my patio, it was angled to an awkward degree. I asked them to fix it, and they did, but if I hadn't looked at it and said something, my patio would have looked very bad. The biggest problem was that John agreed to do some other things for me other than the concrete (that were needed to lay the concrete at an accurate height, and it was done really badly, and it will take years to fix. For example, John agreed to slope my yard away from my house. He brought in Class 3 "dirt" to do so. When I say "dirt," that is generous because it was basically all rocks. When I stated that I planned to plant landscaping in this area, he told me that "flowers only need two inches of dirt" (which is not true). The "dirt" was so rocky, there were large parts of my yard that I could not even grow grass without hand picking out hundreds of rocks. I imagine that there will be large parts of my yard that I will never be able to plant anything. As a woman, I felt like John would often talk down to me, when I actually knew more about what I was talking about than he did (e.g. I asked if his crew was going to seal the window wells they installed, and he said, "These are a different kind of window wells." WTF?!). John knows concrete. That's it. Don't ask him to do anything else.

Mr. Miller was very responsive to my request that there be a day or two after the forms were in place to review and change their placing before the concrete was poured.

Very professional. Took a chance on the weather for us since we 3were at the end of the season (instead of waiting until spring.) They did extra, I thought, with rebar to connect the garage floor and sidewalk to garage and house foundations. This never came up with two other bidders. They did not shy away at all from replacing steps surrounded by brickwork as the other bidders did. They were even lower priced than one bidder who could not do as much as JC Miler did. They handled a work order change (two French drains) at a reasonable price. They even threw in an extra-large sidewalk square to get a more level connection with the existing sidewalk--no extra charge. Everything fine except did not come back to clean up, repair, fill in damaged areas of the yard. The weather could be blamed somewhat but no further contact regarding cleanup.
