Jellison's Best Blacktop replaced our 20 year old 3-car asphalt driveway (1200-some square feet) for under $5,800 in the spring of 2018. This wasn't the cheapest estimate we got, but we picked Jellison's for several reasons. First, during the estimate, Wayne pointed out an issue with our driveway we hadn't even noticed (and none of the other companies did). He had a reasonable plan to address the depressed areas that collected water (none of the others had a good response to this question). The information he provided about the pace of the job, how long it takes, and when they'd be there was clear and turned out to be spot on. Secondly, Wayne was easy to reach on his cell phone, and he answered my call even when he was clearly in the middle of another job. (The other guys had an automated answerer and took several days to return a message.) The paperwork he left with us was clear and easy to understand. The contract was short and readable. We were very pleased when the crews showed up when expected to tear up the old driveway and, later, to install the new driveway. (You will be driving on gravel for a week in between the two.) The foreman of each crew came to our door before starting and clearly explained what they would be doing, and later to update us as the work progressed, and when they left. At one point during the tear out, the foreman indicated that the area below our garage floor where the driveway connects met code (solid concrete?), but if it had been "bricks," it would have added hundreds of dollars to the job. I didn't recall being warned about his beforehand, so I would have been upset if we had needed the extra work. We did not, and our final price was exactly what we had been quoted. I watched most of the tear out and paving process and was very impressed with the work ethic, attention to detail, and conscientiousness with which each crew worked. You could tell they cared about doing a good job, and they worked together efficiently. They were always responsive and respectful to me when I came out and asked questions. I was particularly happy with the bobcat driver who had to repeatedly back up into the crowded street. He took great care to look for oncoming traffic and avoid hitting my neighbor's cars parked nearby. The area was cleaned of debris before each crew left. When done, the driveway was beautiful. Water drains easily as it should. I waited until we got through winter and had several freeze/thaw cycles before writing this review. The driveway is still beautiful this spring. There was only one problem that arose during the entire process. After the paving crew left, I noticed the street out in front of my house looked a bit beat up. This is where all the big trucks and equipment had been standing and smaller equipment driving back and forth during the install. There were shallow potholes and worn spots on an otherwise smooth street. I emailed Wayne with photographs of the street damage, and he explained it was from the skid loaders turning in the street. He said the street had very poor quality asphalt. I'm no street construction expert, so I'm not sure who to blame, but it was disappointing after they did such a great job to be left with potholes in front of our beautiful new driveway. Overall, the driveway work they performed was flawless, the communication was excellent, the work proceeded on schedule, the work site was left clean, and the price was reasonable. I recommend them.
