Arden Courts memory care in Silver Spring was my dad's first nursing home during the pandemic. In was expensive for the services provided. He had a room, with a closet, no shower in his room. Was in a wing of mostly woman and never got rotated in the showering room. Which made it difficult for him being almost blind and deaf. Plus, the staff turnover was incredible. One week all Spanish speakers would be the staff, the next month they'd be gone, and an African American crew would be cooking and cleaning for the residences. The main staff also changed often. The receptionist was never there more than once or twice. I often couldn't get into see my dad or get out when the visit was over. It was a year of a lot of changes in staff, and in our family.
