Worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. Scott Brown used an unapproved and dangerous tile installation method called spot bonding in my bathroom. Instead of troweling the tile, they put gobs of mastic (adhesive) on the tile and pushed the tile onto the wall. I had another contractor look at the bathroom before the tile was grouted, and we could see the orange Schluter waterproofing between the tiles as the mastic was not spread throughout. Tapping the tile produced a hollow sound, because the tile was not completely attached. Spot bonding is especially dangerous in a wet area. This method is not approved by any professional tile association and there are numerous articles warning tile installers not to use spot bonding. Here are a couple I found online: https://www.southfloridatileinstallation.com/what-is-spot-bonding.html https://tilecentralcoast.com/3-reasons-to-fire-your-tile-contractor-today/ Several contractors told me that the bathroom had to be redone if I wanted to be sure it would last more than a few years. I fired Scott immediately upon learning this and had to pay someone else to demolish the shower and tub enclosure and rebuild them. I continued to learn of other unprofessional work done by Scott, including his installation of the wrong dryer vent, which would have trapped lint inside the attic, creating a potential fire risk. He also installed the fan vent incorrectly. Both of these vents had to be redone. I could say much more, but I hope this is enough to help potential clients make informed decisions about hiring Scott Brown, and to encourage everyone to make sure that any contractor uses appropriate tile installation methods.
