We hired Churchill Classics to create a laundry room in our basement. The project involved dry wall, plumbing, electrical work, etc. Churchill had built the home two decades earlier and one reason we hired Churchill is that the quality of construction seemed better than that of other homes in our neighborhood. We were very pleased with the final result. The quality of the work was good. Eric Tovar spent a lot of time with us during the planning phase to help us design what we wanted and did not charge us for the planning time. (Of course the final price no doubt took that planning time into account.) During the project Churchill was cooperative when tweaking needed to be done. One negative—the project took twice as long to complete as originally planned, mainly because of confusion about whether a building permit was required. Because the company uses subcontractors, it was not always clear precisely what time the next subcontractor would be arriving to do the work, and so we had to plan to stay home to be there when they came. The workers start early—most mornings at 7 a.m. This was our first ever remodeling project and we learned some lessons. It is important to get sketches or pictures and agreement on exactly what you want before starting. In addition to the laundry room we had a new front porch handrail installed. We thought we had a mutual understanding of what type handrail we wanted, but when the crew began to install it, it was not what we had envisioned. Churchill was very good about stopping work and replacing the railing with what we did want, and did not charge us extra for that. Churchill was conscientious about putting down drop-cloths on the carpeting so as not to track in mud when bringing materials and tools into the basement. They were good about cleaning up after the project. Their people were friendly. We do recommend them.
