Had my wood floors refinished plus small amount of flooring installed. The flooring install was OK, but would not use again for wood floor refinishing. The bid price was was competitive, but the owner, who is extremely nice to deal with, subcontracts out the work to a sanding and refinishing crew and didn't provide any meaningful oversight or quality control of the work. Crew leader came and went. Language issues when crew leader wasn't there, and it was an effort to get them back to touch up where small spots were missed or nails hadn't been fully punched down and filled. Also, at end of job, was only a little less cost than other bids because of hidden cost of replacing planks, which added about 20%. Neither owner nor his son (estimator) came out to inspect work during project, or when substantially completed, so it was up to me to do all quality control.
