While we were out of the country our refrigerator ice maker water line sprung a leak and flooded the kitchen, the carpeting down to the lower level and the laundry room and pantry there. I had no sooner contacted State Farm when ServPro showed up at our door. They started to rip up flooring, dry wall, etc. I stopped them and asked them to leave. Apparently they have a secret contract with State Farm. I would have been responsible for thousands of dollars of unwanted and unnecessary repairs-at the mercy of State Farm to reimburse me. My husband and I performed all of the cleanup and repairs ourselves. We also paid out of pocket for a new kitchen floor.

Jan 2024 - had a small flood. If they weren't lazy and rushing, they could have pulled the carpet back from the wall to expose and remove the soaked padding. Instead, Servpro cut through the carpet incorrectly rendering it permanently damaged so it could not be patched and sealed back together. Servpro determined that my insurance should have to replace the entire carpet since it couldn't be patched with the same color. I felt my insurance shouldn't have to pay for Servpro's error -- basically, "you break it, you buy it." Believe it or not, it took FOUR MONTHS of back and forth, letters to their corporate offices, social media reviews, and dozens of phone calls before they accepted responsibility for their error. Fast forward, I found my carpet and provided the estimated cost. Servpro then sent a sample of my original carpet to some company that depreciated their cost to one-third of the total (about $2700). Luckily, my insurance covered the remaining balance. After signing the 3rd reimbursement contract (they failed to provide the correct amount on the first two documents - so sloppy) they FINALLY came to install my carpet. I had already sent copies of the carpet purchase documents to Servpro and my insurance company. My insurance company called to let me know they were direct depositing their payment within 10 days. Unfortunately, Servpro made promise after promise (more than two weeks worth - maybe 10) to pay, until I got angry and demanded payment. I was told that one of their reps would bring me a check the next day, which - surprise surprise - he did. Unfortunately, the check was over $700 short. I called McKensie Davidson - the office mgr who drafted the check - and asked why she hadn't taken a second to look in the file for the correct amount? She said someone gave her the amount. But if you are even mildly competent and required to write reimbursement checks, you check and double check to make sure you have the correct amount. McKensie's NEXT lie was to tell me that I'd be receiving a check for the correct amount on Wed, July 3 by overnight delivery. Tick tock...ding. No check was delivered. Since it's clear to me that Servpro has no intention of complying with their contract to reimburse me, and there are no other legitimate excuses left, I've decided McKensie and their CEO, Anthony Vaugh Scott can answer the judge in small claims court. And they can also provide an answer to the MD Att'y General's office. Plus Yelp, BBB, FB, etc. In the meantime, steer clear of these guys cuz' they are bad news. They broke a rare plate from Indonesia, chipped my dining room table + more. And when they asked about fixing things or reimbursement, all I wanted them to do is leave my house before they tore up something else. "Kings of Collateral Damage" is what I call them. There's a lot of advertising about Servpro, which is what you're paying for when you get your bill from them. There are plenty of other remediation companies. Do yourself a favor and research some of these.

I would never go with ServPro again. They damaged some of my property and offered no apology, and have demonstrated the worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. The person assigned to my case told me that they threw irreplaceable things out and then blamed me when I expressed my displeasure. I asked to have another person assigned to my case, and was assured that this would happen, but it never happened. The management is immature, rude, and callous. The pricing is also outrageous. After I told acquaintances who also had had fires that I was working with ServPro, they warned me against it, but it was too late. I would go with a local firm next time. It would be far less expensive and it would be hard to get worse customer service.
