Patti did my aunt's house and did a wonderful job of preparing, pricing, and executing the estate sale. Couldn't be more pleased with the results!

An owner responded to the phone number in the checkbook comment -- the number in the listing has been disconnected but checkbook has not yet changed the number. We established that we both had disruptions in our affairs when we terminated our land lines. I had called on a Sunday and was impressed that the owner accepted the call although she was involved in a sale. We agreed to meet met at my home on the following Tuesday. I rated high for responsiveness. Regretfully, I was five minutes late, late enough for a painting contractor to allow unauthorized entrance. Upon a visual inspection from the foyer, the owner and her partner left without meeting me, leaving me a voicemail message that my delay meant that I was not interested. Clearly, they were not interested, based on a visual inspection without explanation. At first I was relieved, believing that I had avoided becoming involved with someone who was rigid -- after all she had just driven 30 minutes to meet with me and left when I was five minutes late. Then, when I called her, apologizing for being late, asking if she was still in the area and would like to return, she just said that she was not interested. My co-owner asked me to obtain more information so I wrote a detailed explanation for my delay and why her visual inspection may not have been favorable. I will update this comment if she responds. My interest was based on the fact that she prices items with the owner's knowledge, and permits owners's to keep items and decide what should be donated before it is removed. One would expect this, right? Most franchise companies want to have the ownership of the estate transferred to them and decide how it will be dispersed -- some even sell to their own for-profit partners rather than donate. Shocking? No. This industry is not regulated and needs to be to protect against elder abuse. Read the articles before you sign a contract.

The number for this company has changed to 301-351-7559. We have not decided on a company, but I spoke with Patti to set up a preliminary meeting based on the recommendations in Washington Consumer Checkbook, she explained what she and her partner do, and she seems very nice and flexible.
