We had a very similar experience to one of the comments below, someone knocked and put on a sales pitch. I should have said no immediately. Very long process to schedule etc. They visited the home and it was a 3 hour sales pitch to get the final estimate at the end which was absolutely outrageous. Very much like a timeshare sales. Not a fan of the approach, and way too expensive. Shop elsewhere.

I highly recommend Power Home Remodeling. They installed a walk-in-shower after my wife was injured late last year. They are prompt, courteous, and very willing to help. They helped fix issues with our plumbing which were unrelated to they install and without any additional costs.

My wife and I try to have a policy of not signing up for anything with a door-to-door solicitor (except neighborhood kids). But I knew we were due for a new roof, and I was weak and accepted their offer of a roof estimate. I got a bad feeling when the door-to-door guys put me on the phone with the scheduler to reiterate all the things I'd just told them that they wrote down on a form. An entirely different person showed up for our estimate. Super nice guy, and he not only went up on the roof, but went up into our attic to take pictures. Then, my wife and I had to sit down with him while he gave us the whole spiel about the materials they use, their charity contributions, etc. He showed us the pictures and told us we'd need to replace all the wood sheathing. His estimate was for $43K. BUT, if we signed up right then, he could knock it down to $36K. Reminds me of timeshare sales techniques. We got a couple more estimates from other highly rated roofers on Checkbook. Neither of them sat us down for an hour+ to give us a hard sell, and neither of them thought we needed to replace all the sheathing. The roofer we went with did a great job. He only replaced one sheet of wood, and the total was $11,500. Worst case scenario if he'd had to replace all the wood was like $16K. Power will tell you their size allows them to pass bulk savings on materials on to you, but we felt like it really goes toward paying people to drum up business. Their estimate seems WAY high. We were happier going with a smaller company where the same person giving us the estimate was going to be involved with the actual work.
