I have astigmatisms in both eyes and require careful exams as well as accurately manufactured, good quality lenses. The eye exam was thorough and the new prescription seemed fine in the doctor's office. I ordered two pairs of glasses; one reading and one progressive for long and medium distance. When I tried on the reading glasses they were so out of focus that I immediately knew they were wrong. The technician had reversed the eye measurements on both pairs of glasses. Two weeks later, I returned for a new pair and found they were adequate. The prices for frames and lenses were the highest I have ever paid. This was a frustrating experience. Not worth the cost.

I have a complicated prescription, and use progressive lenses, so my cost is high, but the quality is excellent. I have never in 20 years had a problem with the glasses being accurate. However, the price is high.

Colonial Opticians in Bethesda did an excellent job filling my difficult prescription for eyeglasses that help correct my low vision. Other opticians told me they could not fill it. Colonial Opticians in Bethesda, however, accepted and filled the prescription as a routine matter with absolutely no hesitation. They offered a selection of frames that I liked and provided lenses that are far thinner and much less noticeable than I’ve ever had before. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. A Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) specializing in low vision rehabilitation is also on site and sees patients at certain times during the week.
