I was so disappointed in our experience with Deanwood Decks, especially after all the rave reviews. In our experience, the bid process was not professional. Tom pushed us to do something different from what we wanted. He was late for our appointment (after 30 minutes we had to text him) & he ended sending someone else -- who was very nice & polite, but not particularly experienced. When he called several days later and we expressed misgivings about how that appointment had been handled, he basically ended the call. Obviously, he didn't want our job, but it could have been handled in a more professional manner.

Excellent experience with Deanwood Decks in replacing a deteriorating 12' x 20' deck with a similarly-sized Trex deck. Tom Pitsenberger (owner) made the site visit and provided a reasonable cost estimate (materially lower than a similarly highly-rated deck builder). His son Andrew did all the demolition, construction and cleanup work. Andrew, a very quiet worker, works quickly, has a sharp eye for detail and does first-rate work. Highly recommend.

It was a bit of a leap of faith to go with this company - I went on the basis of Checkbook ratings, and am so glad I did! Their price was on the lower end, and they don't use long corporate contracts - it was just agreement with Tom over the phone, and then confirmed via a short email. His sons did all the work - showing up on time and working hard and quietly, even on days when the weather wasn't great. They took down my old deck and build a new one, including steps and railings. It is beautiful, really perfect, and better than I envisioned, thanks to Tom's advice on railings that ended up both saving money and looking great, and his sons' craftsmanship. I would absolutely hire this family business again.
