Took my Honda Civic in for a service department recommended axle replacement. The repair failed completely within 24 hours, resulting in the car stopping suddenly and without warning in moderately heavy traffic. Fortunately, there were no cars directly behind me or there would have been a serious accident. The car, undrivable, was towed back to Ourisman and a second repair was attempted. Communication with service personnel was poor. I was given every assurance when I picked up the car that the repair was successful and the car was “good to go” but my confidence was shaken, so I asked a very reputable independent mechanic to take a look and advise whether the car was safe to drive. He asked me a lot of questions about what I had seen, felt and heard at the time the car became undrivable and exactly what Ourisman had fixed, and he performed what seemed to be a thorough inspection of the transmission, axles, etc. He concluded that the repair had been done incompletely/ improperly and that the installation of the new axle had damaged the boot and adjacent ball joint, compounding the original problem. Basically , the work will have to be done all over again.

I have continued to use this dealership for my Hondas, though I know the arguments against doing so. I have identified two excellent service writers (one of whom, Luis, has now become the Service Manager and Brendan) whom I feel are honest, thoughtful and easy to work with. On some visits when they were not available, I was less positively impressed.
