I have a DC rowhouse and opted for the "impressive but not outrageously costly" option. I liked that I could give Jeff a car analogy... I wanted the Nissan, not the Mercedes.

Upon looking at my yard, taking measurements and discussing my lengthy concerns (plants to hide electrical, yard designed to avert litter, reuse some of the existing plants more effectively...) He worked up a design for me with drawings and a list of options for plants in individual spaces. I liked that he allowed me a full range of options to accomplish my goals.

The products he delivered to me at this point were a list of plant options, a photo of my house with an artist concept of the landscaping drawn on with color, and a hand-drawn, detailed map of plants with a legend to the list. I thought it was very organized.

I used Google image to look up photos of each of the plants and discussed their maintenance with him... Jeff was very meticulous and responsive when I had feedback or questions.

I was a little surprised by the range for the design cost, but my design came in on the low end of that range ($600). I was able to tell Jeff that I didn't want the design fees to go over that and he was good about keeping within budget.

He then gave me an estimate that was within my range... almost perfectly on target to what I wanted to spend. I wasn't exactly sure what I should spend on this project, but had $5000 in mind. Jeff convinced me that for only $500 more I could have a more impressive look with some larger sized plants and I appreciated him calculating that option for me, which I took him up on and am glad I did. He was very good about staying in budget.

Tom, the guy who supervised the work on the day of was excellent. He contacted me in advance to let me know he was coming. As I was about to go on a trip, I wanted to make sure the project was done in advance... and I was shocked to come home on the first day to find the project completely done when 4 days were scheduled. Tom brought more workers on that day to ensure it was done before I left. I was floored. I've never, ever had a contractor complete something so fast and so well. This rating thing needs an "above superior" rating for "completing service promptly"

Tom also was very good with follow up, providing me maintenance and watering instructions and answering questions. One of the questions I had was what they did to prep the ground first. His answer:

"We did a thorough job of removing vines, weeds, etc. and stripping turf. We amended the soil with topsoil and leafgro and before mulching we applied a granular pre-emergent herbicide to help control future weed growth and applied the mulch at a 2-3" depth. That said, occasional weeds in the landscape is inevitable even under the best controls but, you're in good shape as far as weeds are concerned."

I whole heartedly endorse this company for your landscaping needs.

Fantastic. Jeff and Buddy solved our drainage problems (water in basement, soggy yard whenever it rained hard) and beautified our property. They worked with us at every step and really listened to us (the unique stone wall they incorporated into the landscape design was exactly what we wanted--and it is now is the envy of the neighborhood). They do truly outstanding work.
