The estimates, between when a representative of JD Works first visited our home and after our initial deposit, increased by over 50 percent. When asked why we were told the original estimate used "precovid" material and labor costs. I asked whether this disparity happens often and was told, move often than you think. We asked for a refund AND were told they would deduct approximately 1/3 of our deposit for their planning effords. We were told we would receive a check for the remainder. After a few weeks we sent them a note saying we never received a refund. We were told a check would be cut and sent out the following weekend. We never received that check. Finally we sent a 30 day notice, required before taking someone to small claims court demanding a full refund, since the original contract was invalid because of the erroneous estimate. The day they received it they said the original full refund check was lost in the mail and they would send a replacement by fed ex. I am happy to say we received the full refund, but their response doesn't make much sense. They never said they would send us a full refund. They did not seem to understand that we would never have agreed to a contract at the higher estimate and the costs incurred by them was caused by their employee's error.
