They charged me during the pandemic and wouldn’t respond to requests to close/pause account even though the gyms were closed

It is what it is: for my needs, it's acceptable based on the convenience, and that I see people I know. But: seems expensive, often not well-maintained. Some real issues with cleanliness, though perhaps they have a handle on that. I assume that the membership of any club in an area like Allston is going to be relatively transient, but this seems more so. A few of the staff seem like very nice, friendly people but managers and many fitness staff are aloof and in their own cliques - just like high school. Complaints and concerns not effectively responded to, although this seems related to current management (it has varied, with some past managers apparently more interested in feedback). Club policies not explained, if enforced then only randomly; changed without required notice. No posting of plans/pricing as required by law. Mostly inertia keeps me there, which is both bad and good: probably better alternatives out there, but don't want to risk change in fragile habit.
