As these elder communities go we found Belmont to be the best in the area for my Mom. The rooms were spacious and airy with nice closet space and a small sink & fridge. The staff was very patient and pleasant and helpful tho' we had one problem with a night nurse at one point. The food is adequate considering that they have to allow for a number of different tastes and diet restrictions. There were numerous activities and some outings. You can have your own apartment here with meals included or without meals (fix your own) and you can be as independent as you desire but when the need arises for more nursing care that is also available. The memory care unit was very nice and spacious with everything needed to entertain and stimulate fading minds. My mother's final 4 years here were the best of her life because of the concern of the staff and the cheerful atmosphere. This all being said it still is a good idea to visit frequently at various times to keep an eye on your loved one and the care they are receiving. No one will be as attentive to your loved one as you will and there are things that will get overlooked if the staff happens to be very busy or understaffed. Do not hesitate to speak up where there is a need. At one point we had 2 sets of sheets shredded in the laundry and these were quickly replaced but had I not noticed and spoken up it may have gone untaken care of for some time. You are your loved one's best advocate and you know them best!
