We hired Krafft to replace both our furnaces due to the positive reviews, but our experience was mixed. Lars did an excellent job of listening to us, checking our systems, and recommending furnaces, which we bought. The installation crew arrived on time and completed the installations quickly. Unfortunately, in the following days when the furnace turned off it sounded like a freight train was traveling through our house. We complained and when Lars returned, he reported that the crew had made a wiring mistake that was causing the upstairs AC system to cycle on and off rapidly. He fixed the problem, and all was well for the moment. However, when summer arrived, we had major problems with our upstairs AC system being unable to maintain the programmed temperature, which had never previously been the case. We asked Krafft to return to find the problem, but their technician blamed the design of our electric panel, on which a breaker had been tripped. This explanation was clearly invalid because the problem continued even when no breaker was tripped. A second HVAC company reported that the coils were filthy and that they couldn’t check the system until they’d been cleaned. They were right about the coils which we had cleaned. Before we asked them to return, we had a full-house energy audit which revealed that two pieces of the duct system in the downstairs HVAC closet had separated, resulting in a huge air leak. Long story slightly shorter, fixing this and other minor problem in the downstairs HVAC closet (which cost us $800) and then using Aeroseal on the downstairs duct system eliminated the upstairs AC problem. I suspect that the Krafft installation crew created or at least exacerbated the problem with the ductwork when they installed the furnace. At a minimum, I don’t see how they could have failed to notice it, given that it was only 18 inches from the top of the furnace they installed.

I had previously rated them extremely highly however, something no longer seems to be working well over the past 3 years. The main office is always obtuse as to when they might be able to schedule someone (and I have used them to put in a new heat pump and zoning system as well as look after my wine cellar). My main system was not working and needed a new one and I did not even get a call back from them. Their follow-up to prior work just never gets done.

Best thing was they could do the job quickly. Not so great ... the new furnace starting leaking from inside and it took several trips and it still wasn't fixed. I ended up adjusting the hose clamp they added so it stopped leaking. Krafft tech said he'd get a more permanent fix from the manufacturer but that never happened. They also quoted a not so great brand (Goodman) and I later found I could have gotten a Trane unit for a lower price from the company we used for the A/C unit.
