In the process of purchasing a house of Washington, D.C., I visited over 60 properties and inspected 3 houses. I used two other inspectors besides Dan, and he was far and away the best! One of the other inspectors was possibly as meticulous, but so pessimistic about everything that I doubted I could ever buy a property he inspected; he also inspected less (no roof) for a considerably higher price. The other inspector was borderline incompetent, he spent two hours musing about the history of the house and left major items uninspected (not checking appliances, air/heat, attic, roof, etc.)--I called Dan to do a follow-up inspection after this! Dan is everything these inspectors are not--taking his time to do a complete and thorough inspection of every item in the house at a reasonable price, and prioritizing repairs so that I could understand what is needed immediately versus what can wait, and what the approximate cost will be. After one inspection, Dan reached out because he had not tested the furnace, and he went back to the property specifically for this purpose--truly going above and beyond! I recommend Dan's company without reservation and, knowing what I know now, I would wait to schedule him rather than going with someone else and getting an incomplete picture.

I have hired Daniel Blum of Integrity Home Inspection Services several times for consultation on home maintenance/improvement services when I wanted advice on how to make decisions. Daniel is very knowledge about home construction and honest and straightforward in his evaluations and presenting different options. Thus he has often saved me a lot of money and headache by preventing me from hiring workers whose advice I could not trust. For example, I got several bids on replacing a leaking galvanized pipe, from $15,000 to $22,000, which would have involved cutting into a wall and even taking down a built-in bookcase. With advice from David, I paid only $4,000 for the job and avoided cutting into the wall and taking down the bookcase. He provides a written report and has always been willing to answer followup questions, even complicated ones. He is really a gem.

I recently hired Mr. Daniel Blum to do a home inspection of a condo I am trying to buy. To say the least, I couldn't be more pleased. He was thorough, took more than 150 minutes to examine every aspect of the condo and gave me a report within a day. The price was very reasonable. He also did a good bit of homework to get a better feel for the property before coming to do the inspection.
