We got our kitchen cabinets from Lowe's in Gaithersburg. The work was done on time and the cabinets look good. We had two problems: the inside shelves ordered for one cabinet were not installed, and after weeks of calls (to a harried, hardworking employee), we gave up on them, and that's fine. This wasn't a deal-breaker. But we went with the lighter material rather than actual wood. After a year, the hinges on three cabinets loosened, and I have had to fix them myself by filling the screw holes with matchsticks and Elmer's Glue. Lowe's had only guaranteed them for a year, so we were out of luck. Still, the price wasn't off the chart, the work was done quickly, etc. But my advice: go with solid wood - and check the work before the warranty expires.
