I'm happy that I chose Lance Cole Painting to paint the exterior of my Eichler house in Cupertino. The result is my house is better sealed against the elements and looks well cared for. Lance was easy to talk to and gave me his time to help me understand various options to get the effect I wanted for a reasonable price. The entire project took six work days, with about four crew members on average, with Lance there about half the time. His senior crew member was always there and also knowledgable and easy to talk to. At the end of every work day Lance and crew neatly put all their tools and materials away and disposed of any trash. Features about my painting project that Lance handled well are: * My Eichler home has a lot of wood detail, especially around the windows and doors. His crew painted them all correctly and neatly. * My home had cross-grain wood cut ends in the patio roof that had rotted due to rain exposure, a few other wood pieces on the wood paneling that were rotted, plus other wood that was never finished correctly. Lance's carpenter replaced the rotted wood and made the other repairs. I didn't need to manage a carpenter separately from the paint job. * The underside of my home's roof is cellutex panels, that extend from the underside of the eaves to the interior ceiling of the house throughout. The cellutex provides ceiling insulation and is hard to find and replace, and some of the outside panels were stained by leaking rainwater over the years. The outside layer of the cellutex was a little flakey and crusty, so Lance's crew had to gently scrape off the outer layer before painting it with special thick paint that would stick well. The cellutex panels look fine now. * The home's back porch roof consists of three layers: a lattice wood structure that is stained dark brown, a layer of boards placed across the lattice that is painted the same color as the house, topped by corrugated aluminum roof panels. Several small leaks in the aluminum had allowed rain to wear away the wood stain, so I knew the entire roof underside needed to be painted. It looked like it would be a lot of work -- and it was, but Lance and crew stained and painted it ALL correctly. I know Lance's price was fair because I interviewed a total of six painting contractors before I chose him. All the painters had good reviews on Yelp or Consumer Checkbook and almost all of them I think would have done a good job. The interview process taught me what to expect when painting my house. A tip, all the painters said they started their exterior painting projects by power washing the house. Do put towels next to all the windows that open, to soak up the water and dirt that will come in. It seemed the crew worked constantly while they were at my house. If you are thinking of painting your house yourself consider that it is a LOT of work. Lance also stationed a port-a-potty on the sidewalk for the comfort of the crew and to avoid the awkwardness of having crew come into my house. Though to finish painting the windows that opened -- all casement windows -- the crew did need to come inside for half a day.

Lance painted a house for me in West Menlo Park. He recommended the color ( since I didn't have time to go to the paint store to select it) and worked with my very particular tenant to get the job done. The tenant had a lot of requests for time of day to work, what color to paint the door, where to move their stuff that was up in areas he needed to paint and so on and he worked collaboratively with them to satisfy their many requests. His crew replaced an old porch railing with a much nicer new style that really helps the house look up to date. This is the fourth paint job I've hired Lance for, and I am always confident that he'll do a top notch job while handling any special requests with ease. I highly recommend LC Painting!
