The roofers came the first day and started working immediately without even greeting us, the homeowners, who were waiting inside. Then I happened to walk outside after a few hours and noticed a portion of the roof that should have been torn off. I located the foreman and told him this and he said it was not in his work orders and did I get it in writing, as if I were a novice at dealing with contractors. His English was poor so I called the office to speak to the office manager, who could communicate well. She assured me she would speak to the supervisor. Long story short, the supervisor told the office people one thing and the field workers another. On top of that, the foreman was extremely condescending and combative. He pushed back on everything I said. They would tell me one thing and do something else or blame the estimator, who seemed to have conveniently left the company. The last day was a nightmare. They did not clean them after I gutters of debris and the siding they painted was a mess. I just hope the roof lasts since they couldn’t even handle the little things.

McCurdy Roofing was a pleasure to work with. My roof and gutters were redone at a reasonable price (I got bids), with excellent workmanship and a superior product. The entire job passed inspection without any incident. The work foreman and office personnel were very effective in communicating during the process.

I searched for roofing quotes on a buiding in San Francisco using Checkbook ratings. I got 3 firm quotes, chose the one with the lowest price. After the work begain, they informed me that thy had overlooked one skylight and wanted an extra $3,000, When it came time to pay, I paid only the original quote. They were unhappy. It also took a while before they were able to fix the fallen ceiling in the bathroom that my tenant reported long and loud banging on the roof that dislodged the sheetrock. One of the skylights also allowed rain to enter the stairwell. That took a while to get fixed as well. They had mounted that skylight to the building next door which was not OK by me.
