First the positives: Lindy Roofing did have a competitive price. Not the lowest cost but midway in group I picked. Except for Lindy the other roofers I got quotes from were top rated from Checkbook Magazine. Lindy did let me know up front what my options were and how much they would cost.
Negatives: I was told the job would take about two at the most three days. It ended up taking about six days. Apparently there was an ordering problem with their roofing supplier. The roof looks good but in my opinion they were sloppy in the preparation. Some roof termite damage was not fixed before the roof felt was put on. I had previously seen it and pointed it out to the foreman. He pulled off the felt in the area, noticed the damage and did the proper repair (at this point the shingles were not yet installed). But if I had't mentioned it, it would not have been fixed. Another example - A fairly large hole- maybe 4.5 inches by 2 inches was not fixed at all. I had noticed it in the attic before the work was even started. When I pointed it out, about a month after the work was completed, to a company employee who did not work on the roof, he said they should have fixed it and offered to. However the fix would have involved removing the roofing shingles and felt. I didn't want to go through that and offered to fix it myself. He agreed with my solution. I feel that Lindy performed poorest with the carpentry work. In two instances wood pieces adjacent to the roof were not properly aligned prior to the roof going on. They were not able to substantially resolve it, without taking off surrounding roof shingles and felt, which they did offer to do. I opted to keep it as is not wanting to go through the trouble. I also needed to have some stucco removed along the roof-line and reinstalled after the shingles were installed. I was told that only a small amount of stucco (two or three inches) would be removed. The person on the work crew seemed inexperienced to me as he proceeded to remove much more in places - perhaps up to 12 or more inches of stucco.
I felt that I had to QA Lindy's work each day. I just didn't feel they had a commitment to quality. Lindy did respond to my issues and did offer to resolve them but I felt that the foreman was irritated by the extra work I was causing him. He seemed to look angry on two occasions after I had pointed something out to him. To be fair, he seemed to be ok with most of the items I pointed out.
While their price was competitive, I would not recommended Lindy Roofing primarily due to, in my opinion, a sub-standard quality focus on the part of the work crew.
