Especially Cats has been keeping our cats healthy for over 40 years! We presently have four and our Vet is like a foster mother to each of them. This includes their staff, and were especially considerate to our 2-year old formerly feral female who was scared to death. They have various techniques to calm their patients - places to hide, calming mists, warm blankets, as much Churu as each wants to slurp down, and calm voices. Vaccines are of course expensive, and with 4 cats the cost could be an issue. However, these meds are evolving and the costs seem to be stable or even falling (that's even accounting for the inflationary pandemic period). So vaccines are now given only once per two or three years, thus, we may not need to bring any of them in during 2024. Also, a Seniors discount of 10% on fees. Once as we were driving home EC called to warn us they'd found cattail seeds caught in the fur. Not sure why this was a big deal, the tech explained the sharp barb could injure them once they tried to lick it out. Last year our boy kitten came in with one poked into his eye. Now, I knew! I plucked out the noxious weed seed (he's a trusting little boy), and the vet carefully patched him up, with antibiotics, and gave good instructions on home-care. Nothing but the kindest and best quality care for 40 years!

Especially Cats is understaffed and does not offer veterinary urgent care. Their front office staff are not good at triaging urgent care appointments and have repeatedly told me on three separate occasions to take my cat to emergency care at another facility for care that should properly be treated as urgent care at Especially Cats. (I define urgent care as care that should be scheduled within a few days to one week based on the medical situation of the cat.) Currently, for all appointments, they are booking at least one month out. Unless they have a cancellation, regardless of how sick a cat might be, no other appointment slots are available. Even for long term clients that routinely bring their cats for annual exams, they do not offer urgent care appointments. Other than urgent and emergency care, for things like vaccinations and annual exams, I have been happy with the veterinary care provided at Especially Cats. Being forced to take a cat for emergency care at another facility, when the cat has a condition that can be treated through urgent care, can quickly become prohibitively expensive for the pet owner. While I was happy with the annual exams that Especially Cats offers, I am not happy that they are understaffed to the extent that they cannot offer urgent care. I've moved my cats to another veterinarian that offers timely urgent care appointments.

Due to COVID clients are unable to come into the office. Must turn over cat to a worker there & pick up outside where the Vet will come & speak with you on the street. Not a good feeling & unable to see how the animals are being treated inside the office
